Stark DD has migrated our email to Sophos Central and with that our email encryption has received some much needed improvements. This article is help you navigate these changes as someone who receives encrypted email from Stark DD Staff. The old system required you to use Adobe Acrobat to view encrypted attachments. The new system removes this requirement and attachments show up directly in the email.
Step 1
The first time you receive an encrypted email from a Stark DD staff member you will be required to go through a setup process and create a password. The email you receive will look like this:
Step 2
Click on the "Set Sophos Secure Message Password" link in the email to setup your account and create your password. Clicking the button will take you to this page:
Choose a password and fill out all the required information and hit the "apply" button. You will use this password to "unlock" any encrypted emails or attachments you receive from any Stark DD staff in the future. You want to remember this password and keep it safe.
Step 3
After clicking the apply button you will be directed to this page:
You can now close this browser window and within a few minutes your encrypted email will be delivered to your inbox.
Step 4
After completing the account setup the encrypted email will be delivered to your inbox. it will look like this:
Just click on the attachment to open it. You will be prompted for a password. Enter the password you created in steps 1 and 2 and your encrypted email will open.
If there is an attachment in the email it will look like this:
Notice in this email we have an encrypted email and also an encrypted word document attached to the email. When you try to open each one you will be prompted for your password. These attachments can be opened from any device including mobile devices.
